  COMPOSITE DECKING TIPS

Composite is a term that is used to define something that is made up of many elements, materials, parts, etc. The first alternative decking products were generally composite products. The composites were most often made from virgin or recycled plastic and wood fibers or wood flour. Composite decking sales grew rapidly until the industry saw a significant amount of failures because of the use of wood fibers. Mold, decay and fading appeared in many of the wood fiber products. Many composite decking manufacturers then added a capstock or covering in an effort to overcome the deterioration. These capstock boards are nothing but a decorative board that covers up what is really inside. After all these years of composite decking failures and changes in the industry, there is one composite solutions company that stayed true to their original patented formula, and that is Green Bay Decking. Green Bay Decking’s patented formulation is proven through its more than 15 years of service to their customers. Its patented formulation is made up of a combination of high density polyethylene resins, rice hulls, paper by-product, and other high quality ingredients. The unique patented formulation is proven to have minimal fading and low water absorption. This is in part due to the superior formulation as well as the manufacturing processes that create a very dense product which does not allow water absorption. Even though composite decking may seem like a product of the past because of the significant amount of capstock products on the market, Green Bay Decking is proud to offer its composite decking and railing products because of its proven performance.
